New Balance has teamed up with Japan’s United Arrows this month for a winter-ready pair of the 996, adding a waterproof Gore-Tex lining and an all-black colorway.
The last release we saw from Japan’s United Arrows and New Balance arrived over this past Summer, in the form of the 990v3. The label stuck to their guns, and applied a dark grey color scheme to the retro runner. Now, their follow-up release for Winter has emerged this week, showcasing the 996 in a weather-ready Gore-tex edition. As per usual for United Arrows, the 1980’s running shoe gets a dark, neutral color scheme, covering the shoe in black across its mesh and suede upper. The waterproof Gore-Tex lining is presumably hidden inside the shoes, while leather accents make up the heel tabs and ‘N’ logos.
