Michael Le OAMC’s collaborative relationship with adidas has proffered an expansive handful of silhouettes, most entirely brand new and influenced by the brand’s characteristic design language. But with the two’s latest capsule, they’ve decided to delve into both ends of the spectrum, playing on both lifestyle classics and eclectic futurism through the TYPE O-8 and TYPE O-5 respectively.
Far more palatable in relative terms, the TYPE O-8 very overtly borrows from existing mainstays. The construction itself, which is far sleeker than its complement, adds elements signature to the ever-iconic Samba, more specifically its instantly recognizable toe cap and its overall shape. Elsewhere, the side stripes are given an aggressive touch up as the panels are stitched atop with zig-zag thread and stamped adjacent with “OAMC” branding. The tooling as well as has been given an upgrade as parts of its fixtures mold in brutalist ways. Expect to see a lighter off-white colorway and a dark triple black complement.
The Type O-5 is also delivered in two variations: one a brightly toned blue and the other a triple black like that of the aforementioned. Utilitarian aesthetics run more rampant, taking hold along the tooling whose imposing shape is most likely the result of performance ethos. Its tread, whose rubbers seem trail-equipped, run parallel to an upper replete with supportive molds, some doubling as eye stays while others provide cosmetic contrast to their suede and mesh backdrops.
