For the Nike CR Safari Mercurial Vapor SuperFly II, the great minds of Tinker Hatfield, the Nike VP of Creative Design, and Andrew Caine, the Global Creative Director for Nike Football, meshed together in an old meets new, style meets function project that culminated in Cristiano Ronaldo’s newest signature football boot. In this video feature, Tinker Hatfield talks about “getting out in the world and seeing what’s around” in order to devise great graphic ideas, and he did just that for the historic Safari print that has been revived once again by the Mercurial Vapor SuperFly II. No, he wasn’t out in the jungle or exploring the Serengeti, but someplace a lot more domestic – a furniture store to be exact. Take a look at the video after the jump, because there’s a lot of Nike history worth exploring!
