Sophie Grégoire Trudeau Wears Zvelle Pumps To State Dinner

Sophie Grégoire Trudeau made her grand Washington, D.C., debut on Thursday — and gave Canadian footwear brand Zvelle some time in the spotlight, too.

The wife of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau wore custom Zvelle shoes to match her dress by Lucian Matis, a Romanian-born designer who has lived in Canada since 1999. The floor-length purple gown with pink embellishment covered the shoes for most of the evening, but a shot of Trudeau walking up the stairs did reveal the bright pumps.

The brand tweeted on Friday that the shoes had already sold out and there was a waiting list. In addition, Zvelle’s sales also support a good cause. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of the shoes is donated to the Women’s College Hospital Foundation in Canada.

Trudeau is obviously a supporter of the brand. On Thursday, she wore a pair of two-tone pumps by Zvelle, which is produced in Brazil. The style is called Amelia — named after Amelia Earhart — and is available on the brand’s site for $215.

For her part, Michelle Obama nailed the style game again on Thursday, pairing a Tanya Taylor frock with Jimmy Choo pumps on during the day. For the evening affair, she wore Manolo Blahnik with her Jason Wu gown.
