Adeam Sends Sky-High Platforms Down the Runway

Hanako Maeda, CEO & Creative Director of Adeam, brought teenage angst to New York Fashion Week. For her fall ’23 collection, the designer was inspired by punk and the early aughts — think Green Day, Blink 182. The line was filled with a bricolage of textures and patterns: faux leather, plaid, Gothic lace, tulle, and velvet. Models walked the catwalk in a range of sky-high platforms. Then with a brief intermission during the show thanks to an electric guitar solo performed by one of the models, Maeda then presented Adeam Ichi, the gender-neutral collection, inspired by the aesthetics of another subgenre of rock that defined her teen years: grunge. Sitting front row at the show included Natasha Lyonne, Lana Condor and Zoe Chao.
