Jamie Salter, CEO of Authentic Brands Group, to Be Honored as a Father of the Year

Jamie Salter may love making deals, but at the end of the day, it’s his family that means the most to him.

So it’s apropos that the founder, chairman and chief executive officer of Authentic Brands Group will be honored by the National Father’s Day Council as one of the recipients of its Father of the Year award.

Salter will receive the honor at a luncheon on June 13 at the Sheraton New York Times Square Hotel. Proceeds from the event will benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters of America, a mentoring network that develops positive relationships that have a lasting impact on the lives of young people, and Boys Hope Girls Hope New York, which provides personalized academic support and services to break the cycle of poverty and empower young scholars.

The luncheon will be hosted by “CBS Mornings” cohost Nate Burleson.

“We are proud to honor such a well-regarded, powerhouse leader within the retail community,” said Dan Orwig, president and CEO of The Father’s Day/Mother’s Day Council. “Each year, we are reminded of the passion and dedication that goes into leading a business while balancing the commitments of family life and philanthropy, and we look forward to recognizing hard-working fathers and their many accomplishments at this year’s event.”

This will mark the 82nd annual Father of the Year awards. Over the years, the organization has donated more than $35 million to family-related charities nationwide.

Salter and his wife Sheryl have four sons. The Canadian billionaire started his career marketing sporting goods. He cofounded the snowboard manufacturer Ride Inc. as well as Hilco Trading. He left Hilco in 2010 to establish Authentic Brands Group which has built a business with more than 50 brands including Reebok, Nautica and Sports Illustrated with more than 13,000 stores in 150-plus countries and nearly $30 billion in annual global retail sales.
