Japan’s Neighborhood has been releasing sneaker collaborations with adidas for nearly two decades. This year, the two are taking on the NMD S1, as well as a new S1 Boot, both in blacked-out color schemes.
The last time we saw a collaboration from adidas and Neighborhood, the two were releasing two paisley colorways of the original NMD R1. Now, they are reuniting to take on the latest silhouette in the Nomad family, the S1, paying homage to their first project with the NMD form 2018. The standard pair of the S1 features a black knit upper, with a white teeth-like outline running the perimeter of the shoe’s toe box, and a white speckled knit for the heel sections. The shoe’s midsole plugs feature dual branding, as well as NBHD’s ‘Tokyo EST. 1994’ wordmark. The second pair is the new NMD S1 Boot, which features a suede moccasin-style construction, adding a midfoot strap secured by a Fidlock V-Buckle to secure the shoe on your foot.

The latest project from Japan’s Neighborhood and adidas has not been announced for release, though they are expected to launch sometime in June 2023. Featuring blacked-out colorways of the NMD S1 and a new S1 Boot, the shoes will be available from both partners as well as select retailers, with a hefty price tag of $250.
