In line with this week’s issue of Footwear News, we rounded up some of the best celebrity shoe moments in workboots.
Pharrell Williams is just one celebrity who often dons the classic footwear. He is a constant collaborator with Timberland, and we’ve seen him in custom boots by the brand many times, including on “The Voice” and when he received his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2014. But it was his 2015 Bee Line x Timberland collection that garnered much attention.
The shoes, worn by Beyoncé, Cara Delevingne and Rihanna, helped Timberland and Williams take home FN’s first Collaboration of the Year award.
“It’s been an honor to be recognized for our Bee Line x Timberland collaboration,” Williams said on the collab. “Timberland has demonstrated its willingness to do different things and be daring as a brand. With the help of Bionic Yarn, we were able to recycle six plastic bottles to create each boot, which makes it truly fulfilling to receive a nod for this collaboration.”
Rappers such as Jay Z, Meek Mill, Wale and Drake are also fans of the Timberland boot. The most common style spotted include the 6-inch Premium boot in nubuck and black.

In 2015, Wale gave the boots a twist when he teamed up with retailer Villa for the Timberland Gift Box 6-inch boot. The collaboration featured premium nubuck in the tide pool blue color for its upper, gold eyelets and a contrasting gum outsole.
In recent Timberland news, “Gossip Girl” actress Jessica Szohr has been tapped to represent the brand’s women’s collection in a fall campaign, marking the first female celebrity to appear in a print ad for Timberland’s women’s line.
She told FN, “I’ve been a fan of Timberland since I was really young. They’re comfy and edgy without making a statement. I’m big on comfy things. They did such a good job with the collection, and fall is my favorite time of the year — it’s got a lot of neutral colors.”
